Videos of Jak X: Combat Racing Online

just posted up 2 videos from an online gameplay session I just had with this game. This game is for the ps2 and is basically a more violent/explosion filled mariokart with other crazy modes thrown in. This game has sadly had its online servers taken down meaning that it normally would be offline forever. However a program called xlink lets you do something called lan tunneling which basically tricks your ps2 into thinking other players are on your local area network when they could be across the world.

So yea here is 2 videos of my online game session through xlink.

(Video 1) Two Races

  1. Dear LazyHoboGuy,

I saw your PS2 X-Link videos on YouTube and I was wondering if you could help me with a (hopefully) simple problem I'm having with Jak X & LAN tunneling:

I am having trouble getting the game to connect via LAN over XLink Kai. I have a slim PS2 and a non-Greatest Hits version of Jak X. I am using XLink 7.3.1.7, and every other PS2 LAN-enabled game I have (Timespiltters FP, Twisted Metal Black, etc.) works perfectly fine in a LAN over XLink.

Every other game will say "PS2 configured successfully" once that game activates the network adaptor. But Jak X won't - Jak X will try to connect, then XLink will suddenly say, "PS2 configured *unsuccessfully*" and I can't connect with my friend in the game over XLink.

I'm pretty sure I'm using the proper connection mode in Jak X - "Exhibition-->LAN". (I am not choosing the menu option "Online", etc. because I know the servers are shut down. I am definitely using LAN.)

What am I doing wrong? Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Thank you very much for your help.

    Sincerely,

    Eric

  3. This can be fixed easily. All you have to is follow the guide at this site http://playstation2.onlineconsoles.com/phpBB2/guides_getonline.php#6 It starts under #6. For some reason, Jak X: Combat Racing only works over Xlink when you create a network configuration using this guide. Lordnikon The founder of the site onlineconsoles.com wrote this guide. You can have more than one network configuration on your ps2 memory card, so just title this one jak x so you will know in the future what to use it for.

  4. Also, if you want to find other players to play this game or other ps2 games over xlink, go to onlineconsoles.com and post under the "game organization" section for when you would like to schedule a game.
